More Easter Goodies

Hope everyone had a great Easter break! Did the Easter bunny bring you as much chocolate as it has in my household?! My mum and dad do me and my siblings an Easter egg hunt each year, despite the fact we are all grown up now and it doesn't get any less competitive! And thanks to this tradition, I also do a hunt for my other half… This year was no exception. I weighed the chocolate once it had all been found…. A whopping 2314g of chocolate for one adult! Too much?! Nah!

And with so much chocolate hanging around it seemed only right to get the camera out and take a few shots. Might use these images for some Easter cards next year.

I haven't played around with long exposures lately so thought this would be a good subject to try it on seeing as there are lots of vibrant colours to play with. I used a pink shawl as a backdrop (you don't need a tonne of professional gear to take a photo you know!) and my settings were ISO 100, f5.6 and a 2.5 second exposure. 

Would love to see anyone else's attempt at something similar, what do you think?

I hope you have a lovely long weekend whatever you're doing! Here are a few eggs I found lying around the house, bet there'll be a shed load more by the time the Easter bunny comes… Expect (insert Easter themed pun here) more photos of these chocolately treats!

Playing with Christmas Food!

Well with Christmas just around the corner I had thought about making my own Christmas cards, both for me to use and possibly to sell. So I got to thinking about what I might like my Christmas cards to be like. Food, obviously! I made tonnes of cookies and then literally platted with my food all night. Don't worry, I had clean hands throughout when handling the food and I wasn't planning on sharing them with anyone anyway.

Hehehe, love this one! Nothing like a proper bit of experimenting! Not sure this would work as a Christmas card but it's certainly interesting.

 

 

Unfortunately I was a bit late thinking about getting these done to sell as Christmas cards but it's a lesson well learnt for next year, I shall buy stock in early. And now I have some ready made designs to play around with so next years job is already half done. So, late this year, super early for next year! Bear me in mind for you cards next year please! :)

A mish mash of my mind

Have lots and lots of photos still to go through an edit and an exhibition to prepare for! So here are some photos I've had for a while that don't necessarily fit in with other blog posts. These images are all completely unconnected and are photos I've taken whilst out and about, been at home or wee little experiments. A mish mash of what goes on in my head, if you like. I like, I hope you do!

This is a framed picture we have in our living room and just happened to look over one day to find this exotic looking bug climbing up it. I still have no idea what this little fella is but how perfectly placed was he for this photo? I love it, serendipity strikes again! It just seems so fitting that he put himself right there on our joker and the colours really set each other off. Love it! Thank you Mr Bug. :)

I love how just a boring old pavement can be transformed into an interesting photo. Or at least it is in my opinion! I always like lines and like my lines wonky so I love how this has worked in this image. I don't know if it's just me but when I look at the photo, it looks like a parallelogram instead of the rectangle it is because of the way the lines draw your eyes in. Freaky deaky!

Not a fan of eight legged creatures but I do love looking at their webs, I find them fascinating! This one had set up camp in my back garden. I hope I did his little home justice with my photo.

My mum always told me not to play with my food but I just can't help it!

Some from Easter?!

 I was sat at home looking at ALL the chocolate I seemed to have accumulated for Easter. Not bad for a 20something adult, eh?!

Every day it was all sat on the table, staring at me, just willing me to gobble it all up with it's lovely bright packaging. So instead of giving in to temptation, I thought I would take photos of them. Mmmmmmmmmm it makes my mouth water just looking at this one. That cadbury's purple gets me every time!








Then I thought I'd do some experimenting. To be fair, it didn't turn out how I thought or had wanted it to but I really like them all the same! I used long exposure and was moving the camera around whilst exposing. Neat, huh?! The one on the left I actually zoomed in and out as I was exposing, rather than moving the camera itself. I like that it has a kind of 'Creme Egg halo'!

This one is my favourite, I just love how it doesn't look at all like an easter egg or chocolate and the colours look brilliant. In my opinion anyway! Hope you like them. I'm just going to go and raid the chocolate cupboard. Laters!
