Light trails

I really love long exposure shots and I have missed doing them! I love all the different effects you can create from doing them, the different moods you can impart on an image by using long exposure, the colours, the lines, love it all! There's a flyover near my house that I've had my eye on and with the long nights nearly behind us (we hope), there's not much time left! So here are a few of the shots from other night!

And playing around with temperature settings on the camera...

Night life around London

Went out a few weeks ago with my photo buddy Keith around London to catch it at night. It was pretty cold and very wet but it was fun and actually the wet added to the feel of the night because the lights all reflected in the puddles and raindrops. Here's a few that made the final cut!

Fireworks!

This is my last post on Goa, although if I didn't tell you it was Goa, you wouldn't know! I was trying my hand at taking photos of fireworks and I haven't done much of it before so was a learning curve! The fireworks weren't set off in the same places and it was quite difficult trying to judge where one might go off in the sky. So lots of food for thought the next time I do firework shots! Not bad for a first attempt though I don't think.

Goa by Night

Went to take some photos of the sunset and unfortunately it was a bit hazy so it lasted all of 5 minutes before it disappeared. So I decided to play around with lights from the shacks lining the beach instead. As you do. ;)

And a candle...

Nothing like capturing the mood and feeling of a place with some long exposure shots! And with beautiful palms as silhouettes the opportunity was too good to miss!

The Best of 2012

So, we are well and truly in to the new year! I always like to have a bit of self reflection around this time and see how I have developed, improved and what I need and would like to work on.

I also go through all of my photos from the past year (and there's a lot!) and make a 'Best of' collage. Most people are self critical, myself included, so I find it good practise to do this. It's sort of therapeutic. These are what I think are my best from this year, have a look through my blogpost and tell me what you think! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Anyway, a short blogpost for you this week (sorry) I'm afraid as I am currently busy taking a gazillion photos for another project. Don't forget the exhibition is only a week away, please click here for more details.

Last few moments of Christmas....

Awwww, I feel a little bit sad thats it's all over for another year again! But before it's officially bad luck, here are a few more of decorations for your delectation!

And I'd just like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone who has passed through here for the last year. I've had a better year than I could have imagined when I decided to start this blog this time last year and your support is invaluable. I hope I continue to receive your support in the coming year and many more to come! I wish you all a very prosperous and healthy New Year and all the best for 2013!

My homemade table decoration, you like?! I'm thinking possible Christmas cards for next year.....

Remember, you can buy one off images from me, or I can tailor make any photography package to suit your needs, just get in contact! Here's to 2013!

28 December 2012

It was beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

These photos were taken out and about whilst I was getting in the festive mood (well, drinking lots of mulled wine and spiced cider!) and getting the decs up at home. LOVE this time of year but can't believe it's basically over already! I'm in denial which is why there will be at least one other Xmassy themed post before this year is out!

I haven't noticed it before but this year they have/had a giant Christmas tree made out of Jack Daniels barrels in Covent Garden so thats what prompted the trip initially and it's always nice to have a mooch around London at the various Christmas displays and lights.

We have a black Christmas tree and I LOVE it! It's so versatile and every colour goes with it so well. Plus it really accentuates the colour scheme each year because the lights bounce of the baubles rather than the green of the tree mixed with the other colours adorning the branches. I know a black Christmas tree isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's definitely mine.
